5 Best Ambient Ads from around the country

Ambient media has probably not yet got the recognition in India as it does abroad, but over the years, there have been several creative attempts by advertising agencies to get their message across in a smart way. Here are 5 creative endeavors by Indian agencies to promote products via ambient media.

 #5 Indus Pride Bus Handle

Agency: O&M, Bangalore, India

Creative Director: Vipul Thakkar, Shamik Sengupta

An inane activity like holding on to a bus handle was made interesting by this O&M campaign. The bus handles, thanks to their peculiar shape, carried an image of a glass full of the beverage being emptied. Buses are a frequently used mode of transportation in Bangalore and thus, this ad gained a lot of footfalls.

 #4 Livon- Slide

Agency: Mudra DDB

The ambient ad managed to appeal to two audiences: The children, who obviously love to play on a slide, and their mothers, who noticed the creative. The crux of the creative i.e. ‘Smooth, Silky hair’ is portrayed perfectly in this creative. Also, its way better than the usual drab print campaigns we tend to see for hair care products.

#3 Aseema- Abacus

Agency: 141 Sercon, Mumbai.

Creative Directors: Rajiv Menon, Uday Patwardhan

This touching ambient ad for the NGO Aseema goes a step ahead in promoting child welfare by using the steel grill of a manhole cover and creating a paradoxical situation. The ad was sure to stop people in their tracks and the simple, one line copy explains it all.

#2 Calcutta School of Music- Musical Notations

Agency: O&M, Kolkata

Creative Director: Sumanto Chattopadhyay

Musical notations, placed over wires on a busy Kolkata intersection managed to catch the eyes of music lovers in Kolkata. The poster placed at the ended cleared the confusion. There were kiosks that were placed at the end of the road to further strengthen the message.

 #1 Hutch- Pigeons

Agency: O& M

Only a ‘bird brain’ would not understand this.
